DEFINITION OF FLOATING DWELLING

Floating housing has many of the same qualities as a modern home on land. Floating homes basically only require an ordinary berth as they are CE marked and are registered as a boat in the NOR Ship Register. In Norway, "houseboats" are regulated by law. Feel free to contact us for more information.

AREAS OF USE

The products are suitable as a year-round home, cottage, annex, hotel room, rental property, business premises and student housing.

WHERE CAN FLOATING HOMES BE PLACED?

Floating housing basically only requires an ordinary boat berth, but in Norway what is defined as "houseboats" has limitations. Please feel free to contact us for more information. The boats can, for example, be deployed at private sea properties, mooring sites and in marinas. Some municipalities have initiated regulation of floating housing villages. Some marinas offer moorings for floating homes.

HOW IS THE HOUSE moored?

In general, the same mooring as for a boat is used. There are separate mooring systems which ensure that the home is stable in the water. Most moorings/marinas are located in sheltered surroundings. There is, among other things, hydraulic mooring if you want as little movement as possible in the boat.

HOW STABLE IS THE HOUSE ON THE WATER?

Our maritime homes are delivered with catamaran hulls and monohulls. The right weight, hull type and hull design ensure good stability. The movements in the water are experienced by most as moderate and pleasant. There is, among other things, hydraulic mooring if you want as little movement as possible.

WHAT ABOUT WATER AND SEWAGE?

The houses can be supplied with water tanks, watermaker, (turns salt water into fresh water) and the possibility of water connection from land. The houses are supplied with septic tanks and, on our own design, treatment plants are supplied as standard equipment. Septic trucks and septic boats then empty the septic tank every 2 - 4 years. Alternatively, the septic tank can be emptied 300 meters from shore.

HOW BIG CAN THE DEGREE OF ENERGY SELF-SUPPLIANCE BE?

The products can be supplied with renewable energy sources such as water, wind and solar power. Solar panels, windmills and battery banks, such as the Tesla Power Wall, can make the home virtually self-sufficient in energy.

ENERGY SUPPLY

The home is arranged for connection to shore power. The home can be made almost self-sufficient in energy by using renewable energy sources.

SMART HOUSE

An integrated smart house system will reduce energy consumption and simplify the use of the house. For example sound and light control, water and smoke alarms, access control, heat regulation etc.

HOW IS THE INSULATION?

The windows can be supplied with 2 or 3 layers of glass. Both hull and superstructure are insulated and provide very good insulation.

HOW IS THE FIRE SAFETY?

Fire safety can be divided into three areas. The building materials' ignition safety, the house's fire extinguishing system, as well as access to external fire extinguishing. None of the building materials are easily flammable and water is easily available.

HOW IS THE HULL BUILT AND HOW IS SAFETY?

The hulls are built as monohulls or catamaran hulls. The hulls are divided into several watertight bulkheads. The hull contains technical installations and storage space.

FOR WHICH AREAS OF USE CAN STEEL AND COMPOSITE BE USED?

Steel is used in the hull and in large parts of the superstructure. Steel provides very good stability and with the right surface treatment, the durability is very long. Some models have some sandwich construction in the superstructure. Modern sandwich constructions are used in several areas. Boat, car, bridge, aircraft and other building structures are examples of various product areas where composite technology is increasingly used.

ENGINES

The floating home is delivered without engines, with outboard engines or with an inboard engine. It is possible to get electric motors.

MAINTENANCE

Little maintenance is required. We recommend cleaning the hull every few years. The superstructure is built in maintenance-free materials that are only washed as needed.

DELIVERY TIME

Delivery time is 4 - 6 months.

FINANCING

The floating home is per definition a boat. Financial institutions offer loans with a mortgage on the boat. Please contact us for a financing solution.
